The Tuesday competition is coming to a conclusion and Nomads (Gareth Coates, Scott Haynes, Keith Hatzer and Philip Holroyd) moved nearer to clinching another title as they beat Spen Victoria (Brian Thompson, Gerald Bromley, Les Mitchell and Barry Firth) 17-14. Coates going down 21-12 to Thompson was their only set back, although Hatzer and Haynes didn’t have it all their own way in tight games. Holroyd and Firth were ten across in their game before Holroyd asserted his authority went on to win to twelve.

In the Plate Greetland (Gordon Bradford, Pete Lea, Ken Fleming and George Simpson) remain on track for a swift return to the Shield Competition as they overcame Pellon (Alan Moore, Paul Firth, David Gowing and David Agnew) 19-10. The only point dropped was by Captain Fleming, who in a very tight game took the initiative at eighteen across to lead, all but eighteen only to concede a pair and a single to Gowing, the Pellon skipper, for a 20-21 result.
