Table topping Sowerby West End (B Morgan, Simon Leeming, Mick Skwarek and Lorraine Hirst) took on Hanging Heaton (Michael and David Armitage, Steve Pinfield and Ian Smith) who are languishing towards the bottom but with games in hand. First up was the unbeaten Skwarek against Smith and it was Skwarek who opened up the better going in to a 5-1 lead. Smith then crafted a twelve break to swing the game in his favour, 13-5. Skwarek managed another five points before Smith finished the game for a 21-10 win. Leeming and Pinfield exchanged points early but Pinfield looked to have made the decisive break as he led 20-10. Leeming then found a mark that changed his fortunes and he counted eleven unanswered points to clinch what had looked a very unlikely victory. Hirst arrived at ten before David Armitage troubled the scorer, Hirst going on to record a win to single figures. The final game saw Morgan go behind at the first end but that was to be the only time as he went on to record another single figure win, 17-11 the match score to the current table toppers.
